Curfew Hours

It is unlawful for any minor under the age of 17 years to loiter, idle or be in or upon the public streets, highways, parks, playgrounds, public place, places of entertainment or refreshment or any other unsupervised places within the city between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. the following day; provided, however, that the provisions of this section shall not apply to such minor accompanied by his or her parent, guardian or other person having the care and custody of the minor or when the minor is upon some necessary errand by permission or direction of the parent, which permission shall be in writing and signed by such parent, guardian or other adult having the care and custody of the minor.  (Code 1996, § 9.16.010)

Sec. 42-53. Unlawful for parent or guardian to permit violation of curfew.

It is unlawful for the parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of a minor under the age of 17 years of age to permit such minor to loiter, idle or be in or upon the public grounds, public places, places of entertainment or refreshment or other unsupervised places within this city between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. of the following day; provided, however, that the provisions of this section shall not apply when the minor is accompanied by his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor or when the minor is upon some necessary errand by permission or direction of his or her parent, guardian or other adult person having the care and custody of the minor.  (Code 1996, § 9.16.020)
